RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police has recognized Senator Michael Lazzara (R-Onslow) with the “Chief’s Legislative Leadership Award” for the important work he did during the 2023 legislative session to protect public safety in North Carolina.
“As we mourn the tragic loss of four brave law enforcement officers in our state, we must continue our efforts to back the blue,” said Lazzara, “Police officers put their lives on the line every day to ensure our safety, and we need to have their six by ensuring they receive the resources they need to be safe on the job.”
During the 2023 legislative session, the General Assembly considered hundreds of bills and enacted dozens of laws that had a direct impact on law enforcement and public safety in North Carolina. The 2024 session convened in April and will likely see many additional law enforcement and public safety related bills.
The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police is strongest voice of Chiefs of Police in North Carolina. Founded in 1976, the NCACP has grown to become one of largest law enforcement associations in the state.
