Supporting Our Military & Veterans
As a Marine veteran who served at Camp Lejeune, I understand the sacrifices made by our servicemembers and their families. Onslow County’s military community is essential to our identity, our economy, and our national defense. I will continue working to strengthen veterans’ benefits, support military spouses and families, expand employment and educational opportunities, and protect our installations from threats to their long-term mission. North Carolina should always strive to be the most military- and veteran-friendly state in the nation.
Creating Jobs & Strengthening Our Economy
As a small business owner, I know what it takes to create jobs, meet a payroll, and keep a business operating through challenging times. Government should make it easier — not harder — for entrepreneurs and job creators to succeed. I will continue working to keep taxes competitive, reduce unnecessary regulations, strengthen workforce training, and encourage investment in Onslow County and across North Carolina. A growing economy means better jobs, greater opportunity, and stronger communities.
Improving Transportation and Infrastructure
Safe roads, reliable bridges, efficient transportation systems, and modern infrastructure are essential to our economy and quality of life. As chairman of both the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Appropriations on the Department of Transportation Committee, I am working to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and transportation decisions reflect the needs of growing communities. That includes improving our roads, supporting local airports, investing in water and sewer infrastructure, and demanding better service and accountability from the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Expanding Educational Opportunities
Every child deserves access to an education that prepares them for a successful future. That requires strong public schools, effective teachers, meaningful parental involvement, and educational choices that recognize every student learns differently. I support investing in the classroom, strengthening teacher recruitment and retention, expanding career and technical education, and giving families greater freedom to choose the educational setting that best meets their child’s needs. Parents should remain the primary decision-makers in their children’s education.
Strengthening Public Safety
North Carolinians deserve to feel safe in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. I will continue supporting law enforcement, strengthening penalties for violent offenders and drug traffickers, and combating the spread of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs. I am also committed to ensuring our courts, prosecutors, first responders, and public safety agencies have the resources they need to protect our communities and uphold the law.
Keeping Taxes Low & Fiscal Responsibility
Families and small businesses must live within their means, and state government should be expected to do the same. I support keeping taxes low, maintaining balanced budgets, eliminating wasteful spending, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are directed toward core responsibilities such as education, public safety, transportation, and infrastructure. Responsible budgeting has helped make North Carolina one of the nation’s strongest states for business and economic growth, and we must continue protecting that progress.
Protecting Family Values
Strong families are the foundation of strong communities. I will continue defending the sanctity of life, protecting religious liberty, supporting parental rights, preserving opportunities for women and girls in athletics, and safeguarding our constitutional freedoms. North Carolina’s laws should respect the role of parents, protect individual liberty, and uphold the values that have made our state and nation strong.
