RALEIGH, N.C. — Senator Michael Lazzara (R-Onslow) has been appointed by Senate Leader Phil Berger to serve on several key legislative oversight committees for the 2025-26 interim period, as follows:

●      Co-Chair of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Unemployment Insurance

●      Member of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Capital Improvements

●      Member of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety

●      Member of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on the NC State Lottery

●      Member of the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee

"As we prepare for next year's legislative session, these committees will get to work examining the most pressing issues facing our state," Sen. Berger said. "I look forward to seeing what proposals the committees pursue and working with the members to usher their priorities over the finish line."

Joint legislative committees are comprised of members from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, wherein each chamber selects a chairman from their own chamber to serve as a co-chair for each committee.

“I’m honored to be appointed to serve on these interim oversight committees for the 2025-26 session,” said Lazzara. “These committees will be hard at work studying key issues that impact our state’s future. I look forward to bringing Eastern North Carolina’s voice to the table and advancing policies that strengthen public safety, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.”
