Dear Neighbor,
Thank you for taking time to open our latest legislative newsletter. This Thursday, April 24, the General Assembly convenes for the official start of "short session," expected to last for the next few months.
As such, we will likely be having much more news to share on the policy front -- meaning more newsletters coming to your inbox, and more opportunities for you to engage and share your thoughts & feedback on pending legislation.
In the meantime, please take a couple minutes to look through the latest happenings outlined below. Please don't hesitate to reach out if our office can be of assistance. It is our honor to work for you in Raleigh.
At your service,

State forecasts $1.4B budget surplus
Our fiscal discipline at the NC General Assembly has once again paid off, with the state’s Fiscal Research Division projecting a $1.4 billion surplus. Our commitment to keeping taxes reasonable and curbing unnecessary government spending is fostering an environment where both families and businesses can thrive.
This surplus is a clear signal that our economic policies are on the right track, making North Carolina an increasingly attractive place to invest and grow. Let's keep this momentum going as we strive to ensure our state remains the #1 place to live and work.
Scam Alert: Fake NCDOT Toll Texts
There's been a scam going around where people are getting text messages pretending to be toll bills from the NC Department of Transportation. But here's the deal: NCDOT does NOT send toll payment requests through texts.
So, if you get a text message asking for toll money with a link, don't click it! It's a scam. Instead, go directly to the official NC Quick Pass website to check your account. Please share to help spread the word and keep others safe.
