The Onslow Observer: State Budget Update, DMV Kiosks, & More...

Dear Neighbor, I trust that you're doing well. Onslow County has been bustling with visitors from across North Carolina and across the country -- coming to experience our beautiful beaches and our wonderful way of life. As we draw closer to the end of summer and students are heading back to school, I'm reminded of how grateful I am to live here year-round. We've enjoyed spending the last couple of weeks here at home as we continue to have phone calls and virtual meetings to move the ball forward on the State Budget (more information included below). This has granted us more time to engage with the community, including attending the recent First Responder Appreciation Day along with Congressman Greg Murphy and State Rep. Phil Shepard. Take a look at the newsletter below for more updates, and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office should you need any assistance. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. At your service, Michael Lazzara North Carolina Senator

First Responder Appreciation Day

We had a grand old time at the First Responder Appreciation Day, hosted by the Onslow County Republican Men’s Club. It was great to gather with friends and colleagues, including Congressman Greg Murphy and state Rep. Phil Shepard, as we celebrated the hard work first responders do every day to keep our communities safe.

These kiosks will deliver the services customers need, without having to wait in long lines. READ MORE >>>

Legislative Update

This summer, the NC General Assembly has been hard at work behind-the-scenes producing a conservative State Budget that will help us retain our status as the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Much of this effort has been negotiating and finding agreement on key provisions with our colleagues in the NC House of Representatives. We all have the same broad goals, but sometimes we have different ideas on how to accomplish them. Last week, Senate Leader Phil Berger announced that we have reached an agreement with House Speaker Tim Moore on the big picture items:

We are on track to have a final State Budget passed by early August. More information will follow soon. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE STATE BUDGET BILL >>>

In Memory of Senator William Mills

We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of former state Senator William Donald Mills. He was a remarkable individual and a true public servant, touching the lives of countless people in our area. His unwavering dedication and genuine compassion for the well-being of others have established a shining example for what a statesman should be. The impact Senator Mills had on our community will be forever engraved in Jacksonville's history. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. READ MORE >>>
