Dear Neighbor,

It has been another important month in Raleigh as we’ve worked to strengthen public safety, honor lives of service, and stand with the men and women who protect & serve our communities. I remain committed to delivering results that make a real difference for families here in Onslow County.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to read through this month’s updates, and as always, please know that my office is here to help should you or your family ever need assistance navigating state government.

It’s an honor to represent you in the North Carolina Senate.

At your service,

Michael Lazzara

North Carolina Senator

NC SENATE PASSES IRYNA'S LAW

ree

The NC Senate took decisive action to protect our communities — and now, it is officially the law of the land in North Carolina.

With bipartisan support, we passed Iryna’s Law by a vote of 28-8 — closing dangerous loopholes that let violent offenders back on our streets and standing up for victims of violent crime.

This is a win for public safety, a win for accountability, and a win for every North Carolinian who deserves to feel safe in their community.

REMEMBERING CHARLIE KIRK

ree

I am proud to have joined my colleagues in the NC Senate to memorialize the life & legacy of Charlie Kirk with an official senatorial statement.

His life was a testament to the power of free expression and civic engagement. The violence that took him from us must be condemned by all who believe in the principles our republic was founded on.

We must continue the fight to ensure the American freedoms that Charlie Kirk championed are preserved and honored.

MORE SUPPORT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

ree

Last week, we backed the badge in a real way — unanimously passing the Back the Blue Pay Act in the NC Senate.

This legislation delivers $3,000 bonuses and significant raises for the men and women who keep our communities safe.

I’m always proud to stand with law enforcement.
