JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — On Tuesday, Senator Michael Lazzara (R - Onslow) announced that he had been appointed by the Council of State Governments (CSG) South to join their Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS) as part of the Class of 2023.
“The people of Onslow County entrust me to be effective in representing their voice,” said Lazzara, “That’s why I’m excited to join the ranks of my most respected legislative colleagues who have been a part of CALS programs in years past. This is a tremendous opportunity for me to sharpen my skills in communication, consensus building, and leadership – strengthening my ability to advocate for my constituents.”
The Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS) is for current elected or appointed members of state legislatures, judicial, and executive branches. The five-day workshop event takes selected CALS scholars through activities and instruction focusing on the program’s four central components — communication, conflict resolution, consensus building, and critical decision making.
Founded in 1933, The Council of State Governments is the nation’s largest nonpartisan organization serving all three branches of state elected and appointed officials.
Senator Michael Lazzara (R) represents Onslow County in the North Carolina Senate.
