Funding for Jacksonville Watershed Action Plan

I'm thrilled to announce that the City of Jacksonville will receive $400,000 in state funds to develop a comprehensive Watershed Action Plan. This strategic initiative is a part of the state's recent $238 million investment in water and wastewater infrastructure, aimed at enhancing the quality of life-sustaining resources across North Carolina.

This funding is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the New River, ensuring it remains a vibrant and healthy part of our community. By minimizing the harmful impacts of stormwater, we are preserving our natural resources for future generations and enhancing recreational opportunities.

As your State Senator, I'm proud to support this pivotal project, reflecting our shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being. This is more than an investment in infrastructure; it's an investment in Onslow County's future.

Let's celebrate this win together. Your continued support and engagement are what make these victories possible.

Holding DMV Accountable

Earlier this month, we held a legislative hearing to hold DMV accountable for the funds we’ve allocated to help modernize their operations. As legislators, a broken DMV is a broken promise to our constituents. This division has the largest customer-facing role in our state’s government, and instead of providing a service, it’s a source of frustration and disruption to the lives of our citizens. Rest assured, we are working to promptly fix these issues.

Our Vision: Customer-Centric DMV

We’re committed to ensuring that government services work efficiently for the people we serve. Our constituents are tired of waiting in line for hours at the DMV, just to be turned away at close of business. Sometimes, folks are waiting months for a simple appointment. That’s why we’re looking into the possibility of privatizing certain DMV services, which would create a customer-centric approach for everyone to have a more pleasant experience.

In Memory of General Alfred M. Gray

We are mourning the loss of a legend. The passing of General Alfred M. Gray, 29th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, marks a somber moment for those of us who had the honor of knowing him personally and had the honor of serving alongside him. As a friend, General Gray embodied the qualities of loyalty, integrity, and courage, traits that endeared him to many and left a lasting impact on our lives.

His leadership extended far beyond the battlefield; he was a visionary who played a pivotal role in modernizing the Marine Corps, ensuring its readiness and relevance in the face of evolving challenges. As a former Marine, I deeply admired General Gray's unwavering commitment to his country and his Corps. His legacy is one of exemplary service, dedication to his Marines, and a profound love for his country.

General Gray's passing is a profound loss, but his contributions and the values he stood for will continue to inspire generations of Marines to come. This is one of my memorable photos. Semper Fidelis!
